  1. I really enjoyed the Felix trilogy, a genuinely gripping adventure series reminiscent of Robert Louis Stevenson or J Meade Falkner’s Moonfleet. It was more serious than much of Joan’s children’s fiction but still had many of the familiar Aiken motifs that made it recognisably hers. Lovely to be reminded of its origins.
